Lean & Green Protein Shake


Protein shakes are the best way to restore your muscle glycogens that are used up during your exercise, it digests fast, tastes great and helps you recover. These powders are so versatile and can be spiced up with healthy add-ins to make it taste like a decadent milkshake. Though if you're like me, I like to get my greens first thing in the morning and prefer my smoothies to taste as healthy and fresh as the ingredients are. Don't get me wrong, dessert smoothies are yummy and I looooove them just as much! But sometimes my body craves a 'detox' smoothie that tastes fresh and light, whilst still needing to up my protein intake. That is why I love this green protein smoothie. It has the perfect balance of protein, fibre and healthy fast-digestng carbs to help your body replenish and keeps you going throughout the day.


Here is my take on a lower carb green protein shake:


Skinny Post-Workout Fuel

serves one


Recipe

1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I use Sunwarrior, they're plant-based and tastes great!)

1/2 cup pineapple

1 frozen banana

1 cup kale, stalk removed

1/4 cup ice


Blend all ingredients until smooth.


Tip: Before I recharge with this shake 1 hour after a workout, I take 4 tablets of spirulina and 2 tablets of chlorella right after I'm done working out to amp up my post-workout protein.
